Fascinated by kinetic art?  Learn the principles of creating flowing, graceful mobiles.  You might be able to complete your mobile during the class or you may need to finish at home.  Your mobile will be designed to hang from the ceiling.  We’ll be using florist wire for the arms.  We’ll cut  fins with scissors from matt board and attach them with hot glue.  When painted with acrylic paint this will simulate the look of sheet metal, yet will be much easier to work with.  Being very lightweight, the mobile will move easily with the slightest breeze.

Suggestions:  1) Look at images of mobiles in books or online  to get ideas for fin shapes and overall design.  Bring rough sketches if you like.  2) Prepare at least a temporary place to hang the mobile for when you get home, as it will not store well lying in a box.

About Sheree:

Although it’s not her main focus of artwork, over the past 55 years Sheree has crated many mobiles and it remains one of her favorite art forms.  She has helped many friends make mobiles in her studio and has taught many group classes at Sunbear.
