In this class we will be using Readycut carving blocks. These blocks are soft and very easy to carve. We will start by drawing designs with pencil directly onto the carving blocks. Then we will use carving tools to cut away the surface. We will apply non-toxic, water soluble inks with brayers to our designs and make beautiful prints! This process is fun and satisfying. Experiment with color and make multiple prints without the need of a press.
Instructor will provide inks, carving blocks, carving tools, brayers, palettes and paper. Come to class with your sketches and ideas to maximize our class time. Please wear old clothing. If you have any supplies to contribute or if you have a special paper that you prefer, bring it!
About the Instructor: Jessica graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in Art. She worked as a graphic designer while attending school. She ran an art studio business for two years before going into teaching art full time to children. Jessica enjoys photography as well.
