A resident of Westerville, Ohio, Fran Mangino received her B.S. in Art Education from Kent State University. She studied watercolor with such artists as Bess Alexander, Peggy Brown, Carl Dalio, Don Andrews, Alex Powers and Joan Ashley Rothermel. Fran is active in both the Central Ohio Watercolor Society and the Ohio Watercolor Society. Her work can be seen throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. Fran's work has been published in the 2001 December issue of "The Artist Magazine" and in volumes 8 and 9 of F&W Publications "Splash".
Her Statement: Watercolor flowing on white watercolor paper is both exciting and challenging to control. The application of bright, luminous, transparent colors allows light rays to penetrate the paint layer. The light then bounces back off the paper enriching the viewers vision capturing that moment in time. It is this transparency of colors that make it difficult to reproduce. Only the process of offset lithographs has been proven to capture the layers of colors.
